VIJAYAWADA: A dialysis unit for kidney patients acquired at a cost of Rs.44 lakh was launched at the Government General Hospital by district in-charge Minister Pedireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, “the State government is on a mission to provide all the required facilities at the government hospitals, and these will serve the poor with high-quality treatment, matching with corporate hospitals.” The machine has been installed with the technical assistance from B-Braun, a private firm based at Hyderabad, which is maintaining a similar facility in many hospitals in the State. The dialysis facility in the GGH would be helpful to poor patients coming from nearby places, and it could be used by registering under Arogyasri health insurance scheme, said P. Ramakrishna, surgeon in the nephrology department. Animal Husbandry Minister K. Parthasarathy, Mayor M.V. Ratna Bindu, MLA Malladi Vishnu and others were present.
