Canal collapse: families face threat

Kozhikode: Fourteen families at Kakkayam are facing insecurity following the collapse of a portion of a canal that carries water for power generation to the mini power house in the region.

Although some families were shifted to safer locations soon after the incident on Sunday morning, majority are staying back.

The effort of Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) to clear the waterlogged locations is still on.

The collapse of the canal has also resulted in polluting the lone drinking water source in the region.
