Kishan Reddy under ‘house arrest'
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy was placed under ‘house arrest' by the police for a brief while on Monday due to Bharat bandh and in anticipation of any untoward incident when President Pratibha Patil was in the city.
Mr. Reddy told The Hindu that the City Police Commissioner A.K. Khan called him over phone around noon and informed him that he would be let off after the President departed for New Delhi.
The BJP leader also said he was woken up by the police at his house at Barkatpura around 6 a.m. and informed that he was placed under ‘house arrest'. Since then, the policemen kept a tight vigil on the premises and did not allow him to go out.
They failed to give proper replies when asked about the reasons.
Mr. Reddy proceeded to the dharna by BJP at Khairatabad as part of Bharat bandh after he was allowed to leave and got arrested again along with the other party leaders.
