HYDERABAD: The simmering discontent in the Congress over selection of candidates for the forthcoming byelections came to the fore on Monday when supporters of aspirants denied tickets made a strong plea to APCC president D. Srinivas to reconsider the decision. Supporters of Congress MLC K. Premsagar Rao who called on Mr. Srinivas expressed their resentment over allotment of ticket to former MP A. Indrakaran Reddy in Sirpur. They are learnt to have warned the party leadership that they would ensure the defeat of Mr. Reddy if he was not replaced. Another group from Congress workers from Sircilla called on the APCC president expressing displeasure over selection of K. Mahender Reddy from the constituency. They alleged that Mr. Mahender Reddy, who lost against TRS MLA K.T. Rama Rao, was preferred over several seniors aspiring to contest from the seat. Stiff opposition Former Minister J. Ratnakar Rao filed his nomination from Koratla on Monday even before the party leadership formally cleared the name of the candidate from the seat. Mr. Ratnakar Rao, a veteran party leader, is facing stiff opposition from younger leaders. Sources said the Congress high command had cleared the names of V. Krishnamohan from Huzurabad and B. Srinivas Goud from Siddipet.
