NALGONDA: Three members of Praja Pratighatana's Mohananna faction, including a State committee member, were arrested and two weapons were recovered from the trio by the police near Shantinagar in Kodad mandal on Monday. Acting on credible information, the police intercepted an autorickshaw on the outskirts of Shantinagar and apprehended the three naxalites of Praja Pratighatana Mohananna group in the early hours of the day. Identities The arrested naxals were identified as State committee member K. Uppalaiah alias Bhoomanna, 38, a native of Sharajipeta in Alair mandal; the outfit's women wing district secretary R. Venkatamma alias Jyothakka, 30, of Dummugudem in Khammam district and K Narsaiah alias Madhav, 32, of Nalgonda district. Extortion The police seized a country-made revolver, a tapancha and 12 bore cartridges from their possession. Producing them at a media conference, Kodad Circle Inspector P. Srinivas Naidu said that the three naxals were nabbed while they were planning to extort money from some contractors and rice mill merchants in the mandal. Offences Uppalaiah and Narsaiah were involved in several offences including murder cases under different police station limits in the district, he said.
