New experience: Students of Sharada School watching a street play being staged by Nagarikara Parisara Samiti members in Hubli on Tuesday. Dharwad: Students of Sharada School in Hubli got the feel of live theatre when a street play on the need to conserve environment was staged on their school premises on Tuesday. Theatre artiste L.G. Devangmath inaugurated an awareness programme on environment conservation as a part of which a street play was staged. Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and Hubli-Dharwad Nagarika Parisara Samiti jointly organised the programme for schoolchildren. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Devangmath said street plays had emerged as a very effective means of communication and it could leave an imprint on the minds of the young audience. Through the medium of street plays even very complex issues could be conveyed to the target audience in an interesting way. Conservation of environment was one such issue. Environment Officer of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board G. Rudresh and Head of the Environment Wing of University of Agricultural Sciences S.K. Gali stressed on the need to protect and preserve natural resources. Samiti president Shankar Kumbi said plays on environment conservation would be staged in 30 schools in Dharwad.
