Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Tuesday admitted a writ petition seeking a directive to the State government to bring into force the Kerala Public Service Commission (Additional Functions as respect to the Administrative Service under the Devaswom Boards) Act, 2008, entrusting the recruitment of administrative staff in the Travancore and Cochin Devaswom Boards with the public service commission. The petition was filed by Vellappally Natesan, general secretary, SNDP Yogam. According to him, it had been two years since the Act was passed and the Governor gave assent to it. However, the Act had not been brought into force. The Act was enacted to achieve social justice and minimize inequality among the backward communities and the citizens. He had given many representations to the government. Despite that, the boards continued with appointment of temporary hands without following the reservation principles.
