Counselling for law course begins

CHENNAI: Counselling for admission to five-year B.A.B.L. degree course began at Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University here on Wednesday.

University authorities said they had received 2,634 applications of which 237 were rejected and one was a duplicate application.

The university has 1,052 seats for the course and, after counselling, students will be admitted to six Government Law Colleges in the State.

Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College in Chennai has the highest number of seats: 241. This is followed by Madurai Law College with 171. The four other colleges functioning in Tiruchi, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli and Chengalpattu have 160 seats each.

Counselling for OC, SCs, BCs and MBC/DNC students with 84 per cent or less up to 81 per cent will be held on Wednesday. For ST community students counselling will be held on Thursday and for BC students it will be on Friday and the MBC/DNC counselling will be held on Saturday. Counselling for waitlisted students will be on from Thursday to Saturday.
