COIMBATORE: PSG Institute of Management has bagged the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) accreditation. Sharing the details with the media here on Wednesday, C.R. Swaminathan, Chief Executive, PSG group of institutions, said the institute was the first in the country to enjoy the recognition. R. Nandagopal, Director, PSGIM, said the same had come after three years of preparation and was valid for 10 years. He explained that ACBSP was a different assessment in that the quality of teaching-learning process, value addition in students, faculty's contribution in research and publication were taken into consideration and not just the number of faculty, their qualification and infrastructure. The international accreditation facilitated the transfer of credits of PSGIM students in case they were to pursue a part of their programme abroad. The same was the case with international students who wished to study for a semester or two at the institute. Mr. Swaminathan said 499 institutions came under the ACBSP umbrella, including 89 from outside the United States. They represented 38 countries. Douglas G. Viehland, Executive Director, ACBSP, said in a release: “These institutions [those accredited] have shown their commitment to teaching excellence by their participation in the accreditation process.”
