SALEM: A pack of stray dogs reportedly mauled and killed a 5-year-old spotted deer at Thiaganur Pudur village near Talavasal on Wednesday. Forest officials said that villagers had spotted the deer five days ago and informed them. But before they could catch it, the deer was said to have been killed by the stray dogs. It had a gaping wound at its hind legs and is believed to have died because the injury had proved fatal. The deer could have come from the near-by Kalrayan hills in search of water, they said.
