Vigil stepped up for Kalam visit

Nagercoil: The police have stepped up vigil throughout the district particularly in the coastal areas following the visit of the former President of India, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who would interact with the students of Grace Educational Institutions at Padanthalumoodu, DVD Higher Secondary School at Kottar near Nagercoil and Noorul Islam University at Kumarakovil near Thuckalay and also deliver lectures among the students on Friday.

More than 700 police personnel would be deployed for security. The police conducted surprise check in vehicles and at lodges in Kanyakumari, Nagercoil, Thuckalay and Marthandam.

The people of the coastal areas were requested to report about suspicious movement of strangers, if any, to the nearest police station.
