YSR's services recalled

Guntur: Rich tributes were paid to former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on the occasion of his 61st birthday at Sri Venkateswara Vignana Mandir by Inspector General of Police KRM Kishore Kumar, District Collector B. Ramanjaneyulu, Zilla Parishad chairperson K. Vijaya Superintendent of Police D.S. Chauhan and other dignitaries.

Mr. Kishore Kumar said the efforts made by Mr. Rajasekhara Reddy to alleviate the plight of poor people were unforgettable.

Mr. Reddy had showed how a Government could endear itself to the masses by implementing schemes for their welfare with due emphasis on development.

Mr. Rajasekhara Reddy had played an instrumental role in filling over 37,000 vacancies in the Police Department. Collector Ramanjaneyulu said Mr. Rajasekhara Reddy had done his best to eradicate poverty and the populist schemes introduced by him improved the standards of living.

Indiramma housing scheme helped the poor people realise their dream of becoming house owners.

Blood donation camp

Inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by the DCC and Youth Congress at Naaz Center, Mayor Rayapati Mohan Sai Krishna said Rajasekhara Reddy would be remembered forever due to the selfless services he rendered for people's welfare.

At Acharya Nagarjuna University Vice-Chancellor Y. Haragopal Reddy led the way in paying tributes to former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at two functions marking the late leader's 61st birthday on Thursday.

At a function organised by NSUI, ANU unit, Dr. Haragopal Reddy said that YSR was one of the few visionaries who had brought about a series of reforms in educational sector.
