It has been set up at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Haradanahalli A seed collection centre also opened Chamarajanagar: Chairman of the Karnataka State Biofuel Task Force Y.B. Ramakrishna has called upon farmers to grow plants used for producing biofuel to become economically self-reliant. He was speaking after inaugurating the Information and Demonstration Centre at the pilot Biofuel Plant at Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Haradanahalli near here on Friday. He said the task force was implementing Baradu Bangara and Hasiru Honnu schemes to encourage farmers to grow plants used for producing biofuel. He said a seed collection centre had been set up on the kendra premises. Seeds of such trees would be procured also at Raitha Samparka Kendras. The pilot Biofuel Plant was inaugurated by president of the Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat B.M. Muniraju. He said farmers should be informed about the benefits of growing plants used for producing biofuel. Awareness programmes should be conducted in this regard at gram panchayat, taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat levels, Mr. Muniraju said. Vice-president of the zilla panchayat Shivakumar inaugurated the seed collection centre. Members of the task force Udupa Srinivas and K.P. Rajashekar, and coordinator of the KVK C. Doreswamy were among those present.
