CPI(M) and RSP meet to discuss Left unity

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: The need for strengthening Left unity in West Bengal at a more local level and overcoming the odds being faced towards this end was discussed at a meeting between the State leadership of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) on Friday.

The discussions were part of the exercise of holding bi-lateral talks between the CPI(M) and its various allies in the ruling Left Front, to sort out any differences that may exist for consolidating The Left unity ahead of the critical Assembly polls in the State due next year.

“We must have a common understanding of the general political situation in the State, identify the difficulties coming in the way of enhancing unity among Left parties and what sort of development programmes to be taken up by the Left Front government. This was the focus of the talks with the CPI(M)”, senior RSP leader, Manoj Bhattacharjee told TheHindu shortly after the meeting.
