MCC HSS celebrates 175 years

CHENNAI: Commemorating its 175 years of existence, MCC Higher Secondary School convened a week-long inter-school sports carnival recently at its premises, which turned out to be a grand success. Speaking at the valedictory function on Friday, the Prince of Arcot, Muhammed Abdul Ali, spoke about the school's love for sports and recalled his experiences as a student of MCC HSS. He congratulated the students on taking part in events and stressed the importance of religious tolerance for peaceful co-existence.

Peter Subbu Reddy, Regional Inspector of Physical Education, praised the school's management for its promotion of sports. G.J. Manohar, Headmaster and Correspondent, MCC HSS, gave the welcome address. Joseph David Ebenezer, Physical Director, MCC HSS, proposed the vote of thanks. The Prince of Arcot gave away the prizes to the winners.

Upset win

K. Aishwarya of Lord's TTA pulled off a major upset, defeating Airport Authority of India's A.V. Nivedita, the top seed, 11-9, 12-10, 11-3, 11-2 in a women's quarterfinal contest of the Herman Miller Buildcraft second State-ranking table tennis tournament at the Hall of TT, Nehru Stadium here on Friday.
