Anticipatory bail granted

KARUR: District Judge V. Ramamurthy has granted anticipatory bail for 11 AIADMK local leaders and four DMK office-bearers in cases relating to clash between the two groups over flag staff erection in Vengamedu here recently.

A clash in Ward 22 of Karur Municipality some days back between the two parties in which several persons from both sides were injured. Following that, cases were registered against 13 AIADMK and 25 DMK cadres out of which three from the DMK camp and seven from the other group were arrested. Thereafter, local leaders from both groups had sought anticipatory bail and filed petitions seeking to pre-empt arrest.

After hearing arguments of both sides, Mr. Ramamurthy granted anticipatory bail for DMK district deputy secretary G. Balagurubaran; Volunteers wing district organizer K. Jayabal; town secretary SP. Kanagaraj and local leader P.A. Kumar.

Similarly, he also granted anticipatory bail to AIADMK district secretary and Karur MLA V. Senthil Balaji; Jayalalithaa Peravai district secretary S. Kamaraj; party union secretary M.R. Vijayabhaskar; district treasurer P.K.S. Murali; councilors E. Muthusamy and P. Paramaisvam; and office-bearers P. Muthukumar, Tamilselvan, P. Kishore Kumar, A. Sundaram and C. Gunasekar. The judge also enlarged on conditional bail all the arrested in the case.
