HYDERABAD: Students of the government high schools in the Ranga Reddy district could soon be gaining from the Gutenberg. If an initiative towards mobile libraries proposed by MLC K. Nageshwar and accepted by the district Collector M. Dana Kishore takes shape, schools from the district will soon be welcoming the ‘books on wheels'. At the District Review Committee meeting here on Sunday, Mr. Dana Kishore welcomed the suggestion by Mr. Nageshwar towards a mobile library each for all constituencies, and assured to follow it up. To begin with, it will be taken up in a constituency or two on experimental basis, he said. Home Minister P. Sabitha Indra Reddy, who was present at the meeting, suggested that the project could be financed from the legislators' constituency development funds. The Collector informed that the proposal to rope in corporate companies to address the infrastructural needs of the district's schools might assume form and substance after a scheduled meeting with industry bodies. A draft policy has been prepared and discussed with the Principle Secretary, and talks are on with mining and software firms in the district, he said. Mr. Nageshwar cautioned that corporate social responsibility cannot replace the State's role in education.
