THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram — which is into its diamond jubilee year — saw a rich harvest of university ranks in the academic year 2009-10. When the last of the results for that year were announced recently, 17 students from the college cornered the top three ranks for various subjects. The ranks were secured by the students in the M.A., M.Sc., M.Com., MTA, B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. examinations. According to a press note issued by the college, this is an all-time high haul of ranks. Regular classes, test papers, the class counsellor system and the open houses held at the college have contributed to the results returned by the college over the years. In addition to this, the 50-plus research projects being done by teachers in the college have created an academic ambience in the institution. The college has also left its mark on the cultural scene: for the last five years it has emerged champions in the Kerala University Youth Festival. In the present Lok Sabha there are three MPs who are alumni of the college.
