Kochi: A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Wednesday impleaded the State Health Secretary as respondent in a writ petition filed by the PVS College of Nursing, Kozhikode seeking affiliation for nursing courses. The Bench, comprising Chief Justice J. Chelameswar and Justice P.N. Ravindran, impleaded the Health Secretary as it prima facie appeared to the court that the University of Calicut was not competent to grant affiliation in view of the establishment of the Kerala University of Health and Allied Sciences. The nursing college complained that they were yet to get affiliation for its courses for the year 2009-10 and 2010-11. The college alleged that the university was functioning notionally.
