Vedi plans sensitisation campaign

Staff Reporter

Kozhikode: The Hindu Aikya Vedi will undertake a week-long campaign from August 2 to August 9 to create public awareness against the rising extremist activities in the State.

At a press conference here on Thursday, K.P. Sasikala, State president of the vedi, said the organisation would conduct evening meetings in around 200 locations across the State, besides staging processions and public conventions.

Leaflets prepared for the sensitisation campaign would be circulated in 1,000 selected locations in the State, she said.

Ms. Sasikala said the ongoing police raid on the offices of some of the organisations which were having suspected links with extremists were just to “hoodwink the public.”

“The police officials are still reluctant to conduct detailed searches in certain locations, which are suspected as the centres of concealed extremist activities,” she claimed.
