KANNUR: The Kerala Primary and Secondary Teachers' Union (KPSTU) has protested against what it calls unauthorised classroom examination by the Education Department and the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) using people without eligibility and academic skills. KPSTU State office-bearers told a press conference here on Thursday that the Education Department had proposed ‘on-site support' (OSS) at schools which had recorded poor SSLC pass percentage. But unauthorised examinations were conducted even in schools that kept high academic standards and teachers were being harassed and punished by slapping charges on them. Many teachers had been served show-cause notices for opposing the OSS. The union would be forced to withdraw all programmes of the department in the district.
