TIRUPATI: Maha Ganapati Homam got off to a holy start in the Kanipakam Sri Varasiddi Vinayaka Swamy temple, 65 km from here on Thursday. This is first in the series of Ganapati Homams and Vratams which would be performed in 11 select temples in the State under the joint aegis of the Endowments Department and the TTD in collaboration with the Kanipakam Temple Devasthanams and the TTD's Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel. As part of the programme, the Varasiddhi Vinayaka Ratham carrying on board a replica of the Kanipakam Vinayaka idol would traverse through different parts of the State covering the eleven select temples where similar Homams and Vinayaka Vrathams would be performed for the benefit of the locals and devotees from the surrounding villages. After its holy journey, the ‘temple on wheels' would return to Kanipakam on September 15 when the priests would perform a poornahuti, signalling conclusion of the ‘Yatra'.
