They take out procession in Davangere DAVANGERE: Congress workers, led by general secretary of the Davangere district Congress Committee D. Basavaraj and Youth Congress leader Dinesh K. Shetty, took out a procession here on Thursday to protest against the “unruly” behaviour of BJP MLAs, including some Ministers, in the House on July 9. Congress activists raised slogans against the three Ministers from Bellary who, they alleged, were responsible for the situation. Later, the workers submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, in which they urged the Centre to dismiss the State Government. They urged the Centre to direct the CBI to take up a probe into illegal mining in Karnataka. The State had been shielding the three Ministers, the leaders alleged, and added that the Chief Minister could not antagonise them if he wished to stay in power. The Government should honour public opinion that called for an end to illegal mining or else seek a fresh mandate, the activists said. Administration had come to a halt in the State; there had been political interference in the functioning of various departments, especially Home, Mines and Geology, the Congress leaders charged.
