Education moulds children into responsible citizens, says Collector

KRISHNAGIRI/DHARMAPURI: Education moulds children into a responsible future citizens of the nation, said Collector V. Arun Roy in Krishnagiri on Thursday.

Presiding over the ‘Kalvi Valarchi Naal'' (Education Development Day) to mark the 108th birth anniversary of K. Kamaraj at a function held at the Municipal Middle School, he said the late Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the education in the State, as a result of which Tamil Nadu became a forerunner among all other states in the country.

He introduced free education to the downtrodden. “Responsibilities lie on children to make use of the best infrastructure created by the government for education sector, Mr. Roy added.

Mr. Roy also inaugurated a website for the Municipal Middle School, Oldpet, with the domain name as ‘schoololdpet.com'' and distributed student safety insurance policy worth Rs. 25,000 from United India Insurance Company Limited for 20 girl students and free uniforms.M. Baskar, Chief Educational Officer, M.K. Subramanian, District Elementary Education Officer, T. Senguttuvan, MLA, B. Farida Nawab, Chairperson, Krishnagiri Municipality, Chairperson, C.V. Poulouse, Municipality Commissioner participated.

Kulandei Francis, Director, Integrated Village Development Programme, a NGO-based in Krishnagiri told The Hindu that the organisation would donate 3, 600 plastic bottles worth Rs. 1.5 lakh and free uniform sets to 320 children of Municipal Schools in Krishnagiri as part of their corporate social responsibility scheme.

M. Nagarajan, Headmaster, welcomed the gathering.

In Dharmapuri, P. Amutha, Collector presided over the celebrations organised at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Karimangalam.

She said education should be tool to develop self-confidence, good thinking and self-regulation among the children. Student should set a goal to improve themselves, the society around them and their native district. She exhorted the students to aim for the big. It was reported that the IAS, IPS and IFS officers selected from the state have rural background. Hence, students should work hard, as it is the only solution to succeed in life.

She exhorted the teachers to strive for hundred per cent success in public examinations during this academic year.

MLs V. Mullaivendan, . K.P.Anbazhagan, Chief Education Officer Sasikala among others participated.
