Alarming casualties at zoo

A series of animal deaths at the Nehru Zoological Park in the last few months has come to hit the popular facility badly. Starting with nine Neelgai at the beginning of the year and followed by an Indian Bison to the lioness last month and an ostrich now, there have been quite a few deaths giving authorities a tough time.

Some of the animals were quite old and officials have been at pains to assure that most deaths were due to age and not resulting from them being poorly managed or lack of facilities as being made out by sceptics. However, happenings in the zoo are surely to be put under microscope both by critics and animal lovers in coming days.
