HYDERABAD: Hyderabad district was one of the first in the country to go for photo electoral rolls where each voter's name was accompanied by a photograph in the rolls few years ago. Yet, more than 3.5 lakh voters' photographs were missing from the electoral rolls from the 32.61 lakh voters in the 15 Assembly constituencies. GHMC Additional Commissioner (Administration, Legal & Elections) K. Sudhakar informed that teams scouring different areas have served three notices to 1.92 lakh voters urging them to submit two passport size photographs to the election officials concerned. He said there were 28.46 lakh images of the electors available as of now in the rolls and an earnest effort was on to capture the remaining photo images. As part of the summary revision of electoral rolls taken up in the area more than 50,000 photos have been collected in the last one month. In the coming days, the remaining voters lacking photographs in the electoral rolls too would be contacted, he said. As per law, the election authorities have the power to delete names from the electoral lists if it was not accompanied by a photograph. The district captured 82 per cent of images of voters with Chandrayangutta constituency coming on top with a whopping 98 per cent or nearly all the 1.80 lakh voters' images being available. Karwan and Nampally constituencies fare poor compared to other city constituencies with 75 per cent (1.72 lakh) and 79 per cent (2.39 lakh), respectively. In the remaining constituencies, the photo image percentage was more or less at an average of 90 per cent, he added.
