Count: Enumerators and officials during a house listing operation in Triplicane on Thursday. CHENNAI: The house listing and housing census operations, as part of the Census 2011, will continue for at least 10 more days in Chennai. This is to help those residents who were not able to provide information since the process began 45 days ago. “People who are not yet enumerated are requested to inform the Chennai Corporation officials. This they can do by calling the Corporation's toll-free helpline 1913. The officials have been asked to make arrangements for enumeration of such people,” said S. Gopalakrishnan, Director of Census Operations, Tamil Nadu. The Directorate of Census Operations started the house listing and housing census operations in the State on June 1. One reason for continuing the process beyond July 15 is the number of complaints from residents about their being not covered. “Many houses required a number of visits as residents were not available when we visited,” said J.Anulatha, an enumerator. “An enumerator spends around four hours a day for enumeration. Some of the residents who were not at home during the visit have started seeking the help of Corporation officials for inclusion of their house details now,” said R.Karumaran, a supervisor. Vaidehi Narayanan, a resident of Triplicane, said residents were not informed in advance of the visit of enumerators.
