Kadapa is officially YSR district now

KADAPA: Rechristening of Kadapa district into YSR district after former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy came into force on Thursday with the issue of a notification in the district Gazette.
A sign board at the entrance of Kadapa Collectorate was repainted depicting the new name. The change in name came into force even as some quarters demanded renaming of the district as YSR Kadapa district and objected to exclusion of the word Kadapa, meaning threshold (to Tirumala temple).
In the meantime, Human Rights Forum district convenor K. Jayasri had moved the High Court demanding status quo, but the court rejected the plea on Wednesday.
