Bomb scare at office

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The police conducted searches at the office of the Janmabhumi daily here after a couple of calls came to the editorial desk saying that a bomb was planted inside the building.

The first call was made at around 2.30 p.m. The caller claimed to be calling from Kollam but the number showed that the call was made using internet telephony. The second call, which came in soon, asked for Kummanam Rajasekharan, Managing Director of the daily. On being told that he was out of station, the caller threatened to kill him and said a bomb would go off soon at the office.

Two more calls were received. The police led by N.R. Jayaraj, Circle Inspector, Kalamassery, checked the office and premises along with a bomb and dog squad for nearly two hours and confirmed the calls to be hoax.
