Hat-trick for Sharmada

BANGALORE: Sharmada Balu of Karnataka won her third successive women's singles title, when she defeated Bhuvana Kalva of AP 6-2, 6-3 in the final of the Rs.50, 000 AITA ranking tennis championship at Jassowal in Punjab on Friday. Sharmada had earlier won the title at the same venue last week and the week before, at Secunderabad.

Sharmada and her partner, Shweta Rana, however lost in the doubles final 2-6, 1-6 to Bhuvana Kalva and Natasha Palha.

Kabaddi tournament

The Karnataka Industries Sports & Arts Association will be conducting its Golden Jubilee year state-level Industries kabaddi tournament at Vijayanagar from August 12 to 15. Entries close on July 30.
