BJP to submit memorandum to President
Staff Reporter
Tirupur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will submit a memorandum signed by 12 crore people to President Pratibha Patil on July 29 on how rising inflation in food prices had made their lives miserable, according to BJP national secretary Kiran Maheshwari.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, she said the Central Government remained a mute spectator even when the prices of food grains shot up abnormally in the recent past.
BJP national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman blamed the entire inflation of food prices, which touched 18 per cent, on the mismanagement of economic matters by the Union Government.
She also alleged that the Centre was soft on terrorism.
Our Special Correspondent adds from Coimbatore:
Earlier, Ms. Maheshwari, Ms. Sitharaman and State president of the party Pon. Radhakrishnan took part in a demonstration in Coimbatore city to demand that the Central Government extend the educational assistance to poor students in the majority community also.
