Rahul stuns Hari, takes title

Alappuzha: Rahul Binu Mathew (AYTTA) shocked top seed and State No. 1 M. Hari Krishnan to win the men's title in the 54th YMCA all-Kerala table tennis tournament at the YMCA hall here on Sunday. Rahul won 6-11, 11-9, 11-4, 7-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-9.

It was sweet revenge for Rahul who had earlier lost the youth title to Hari.

Maria Rony (AYTTA) lived up to her top billing despite being stretched by teammate Shika Jacob. Maria shrugged off the loss of first two games to prevail 9-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-8, 16-14, 11-4.

Maria completed a double by winning the junior girls' title.
