Arun Deva, Zinda Tilismath crack tons

HYDERABAD: Centuries by Arun Deva (147) for Zinda Tilismath against State Bank of India and Surender Singh (123) for Gemini Friends against CCOB were the highlights of the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship here on Monday.

In another match, Harsharvardhan (six for 46) hogged the limelight for Vijay Hanuman against New Blues.

Chaitanya scalps six

Vizianagaram right-arm leg-spinner M.K. Chaitanya Reddy claimed six wickets against East Godavari in the ACA North Zone under-19 inter-district tournament for the G. Kannam Raju Trophy in Kakinada on Monday.

C.H. Praneeth and K.V. Ram Kishore, scored centuries as Visakhapatnam piled up 365 for five against Srikakulam on the second day of the match.

The scores: East Godavari 161 in 65.5 overs (M. Satyanarayana 42, A.V. Rajesh 29, M.K. Chaitanya Reddy three for 33) and 221 for eight decl. in 49.2 overs (Rajesh 62, M. Satyanarayana 56, M. Varun Kumar 46, Chaitanya Reddy six for 78) vs. Vizianagaram 81 in 31.5 overs (Vijay Deep 26, B. Ayyappa five for 21) and 15 for two in 2.5 overs.

Srikakulam 277 in 78 overs (S.H. Srinivas 134, N. Rakesh Goud 40, G. Chiranjeevi five for 57) vs. Visakhapatnam 365 for five in 80 overs (C.H. Praneeth 130, K.V. Ram Kishore 108 batting).

Vincent appointed

Former Andhra Ranji skipper and National Cricket Academy level-2 coach D. Vincent Vinay Kumar has been chosen as coach for the Andhra Ranji team for the 2010-2011, according to Andhra Cricket Association secretary Gokaraju Ganga Raju in Vijaywada on Monday. He said former opening batsman and NCA level-1 coach Amit Pathak will be his assistant.

Raju said that Anantapur will organise two Ranji matches (Andhra - Services from November 10-13, Andhra - Kerala from December 8-11) while Visakhapatnam will play host to Andhra-Maharashtra tie from November 17-20. “Andhra will play two away matches against Vidharbha at Nagpur and Jammu and Kashmir at Jammu. Dates will be finalised soon,” he added.

Raju said that Visakhapatnam will host a day and night one-day international between India and Australia on October 20 at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA stadium.

At the ACA annual general meeting held at Araku Valley on Sunday, a quarterly in-house magazine “ Straight Drive” was released by former ACA president D.V. Subba Rao. “This magazine will cover the history of ACA and also various cricketing activities in the 13 districts affiliated to ACA,” he added.

Under-19 tourney

The Andhra Cricket Association's Central Zone inter-district under-19 cricket tournament will get underway at the CSR Sharma College grounds here on Tuesday.

Four districts — West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam — would vie for honours in the tournament which would be held on a league basis, said ACA vice-president Mohan Das. The host team, with a strong batting line-up which includes under-19 India probable T. Vamsi Krishna, will take on West Godavari in the inaugural match.
