Hindu Munnani against imposing restriction on size of Ganesh idols

Staff Reporter

Tirupur: Hindu Munnani leader Ramagopalan said that the authorities concerned should not impose any restriction on size and numbers of Ganesh idols to be placed during the Vinayaka Chathruthi celebrations.

Addressing reporters here on Sunday, he reiterated the need to spend the revenue generated from temples for religious matters and infrastructure development instead of pooling with other collections once it reaches the government exchequer.

He said that Centre had failed miserably to control Maoist insurgency resulting in the killings of many CRPF men. Mr. Ramagopalan sought ban on the rally planned by Popular Front of India at Mettupalayam on August 15 considering that the outfit was engaged in unlawful activities in Kerala.
