Ananya Dutta

KOLKATA: Train services in the Kharagpur- Tatnagar section of the South Eastern Railway were suspended for four hours on Monday after the driver of a goods train noticed some posters lying next to the railway tracks in the Maoist-affected area of West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur district.

According to a press release issued by South Eastern Railway, the driver noticed some flags and posters near the track between Jhargram and Khatkura at about 1 p.m. For security reasons, train movement in both directions were immediately stopped.

The security agencies concerned were informed and a patrol train with personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the GRP inspected the tracks.

Seven passenger trains were detained en route until a security clearance was received. Services resumed after 5 p.m.
