THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI State executive has urged the Central and the State governments to investigate the sources from which the religious extremist elements in Kerala received funding for their activities. A resolution adopted by the committee, which met here on Tuesday, said there were reports that such elements received funding from various sources. It, however, wanted caution while handling the issue and said that since only a fringe was involved in violent activities, it would be wrong to brand an entire community as extremists. The CPI executive also accused the Opposition UDF with soft approach towards the extremists, particularly the Popular Front of India which, it said, was a new version of the National Development Front.
