Rs. 14 crore for development of beach

Nagercoil: The Government has allotted Rs. 36.48 crore for the development of tourism activities in Kanyakumari, Madurai and Rameswaram, said Tourism Minister N.Suresh Rajan at a review meeting held with Collector Rajendra Ratnoo, District Tourism Officer Hari Radhakrishnan, and Executive officer of Kanyakumari Subbiya Pandiyan on Thursday.

Mr. Rajan said that Rs 13.76 crore had been allotted for the beautification of beach in Kanyakumari and implementation of other development works. It has been decided to give a facelift to Kanyakumari to attract tourists. A sum of Rs. 5.5 crore has been allotted for beach development, including landscaping.

A sum of Rs3.80 crore had been allotted for the beautification of sunset point and surrounding areas. It has also been decided to buy four battery cars for tourists.
