Tirupur: Collector C. Samayamoorthy said that the administration had made elaborate arrangements to facilitate inclusion of voters in the electoral rolls till July 26.
The original deadline was July 16.
“This is following a fresh directive from Election Commission of India (ECI),” he added.
The public who wanted to include their names in the electoral rolls could submit their credentials in Form 6 at the designated centres like polling stations, among others as stipulated by the ECI.
Likewise, corrections in the electors' data in the draft electoral rolls released recently could be made in Form 8 and transposition of entries within an Assembly Constituency in Form 8A.
Mr. Samayamoorthy said that during the original inclusion process held between July 1 and July 16, the administration received as many as 1,53,480 applications for inclusion, 815 applications for deletion, 3,642 requisitions for correcting their data (ie. Form 8) and 1,646 applications in Form 8A.
“The majority of the 1,53,480 applications for inclusion came from Tirupur North Assembly constituency (36,469) followed by Tirupur South (32,577) and the least from Madathukulam constituency (8,001),” he added further.
