Kanna sues Rayapati

Staff Reporter

GUNTUR: The ongoing spat between Congress MP from Guntur Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and Major Industries Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana took a serious turn when the latter filed a defamation suit seeking Rs. 1 crore in damage if the allegations of corruption levelled against him by the MP could not be proved.

When contacted, Mr. Lakshminarayana confirmed that he had sent a legal notice but refused to divulge more details.

The rift between the two senior Congress leaders widened after Mr. Rao alleged that there were several ‘Madhu Kordas' in the State Cabinet and subsequently clarified that his remark was aimed at Mr. Lakshminarayana.

The Minister hit back with a slew of charges on the businesses done by his senior colleague.

The duo became arch rivals ever since differences cropped up over sharing of Guntur Mayor's post by their sons Rayapati Mohan Sai Krishna and Kanna Nagaraju.
