State convenes all-party meeting today

HYDERABAD:A day ahead of all-party delegation's meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the Babli dam issue, the government has convened a meeting of representatives of various political parties with Chief MinisterK . Rosaiah here on Friday.

The government's decision was apparently in response to the demand voiced by Telugu Desam president N. Chandrabu Naidu and the chiefs of Praja Rajyam and Lok Satta, K. Chiranjeevi and Jayaprakash Narayan respectively.

Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah extended a formal invitation to the leaders of various parties urging them to attend a meeting at Chief Minister's Chambers at 11.30 am on Friday.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu sought such a meeting to enable the parties to place their suggestions before the State government.

Mr. Chiranjeevi and Jayaprakash Narayan too made a similar demand.
