HYDERABAD: Two-time Asian Games bronze medallist Rajesh Choudhary, B.K. Rout, Jasveer Singh, Gajender and Rohini Rau will be among 110 entrants for the silver jubilee edition of the Laser National championships that will be held at the Hussain Sagar from July 24 to 30. Addressing a press conference here, Major General P.K. Jaggia, Vice President, Laser Class Association of India (LCAI) said 36 races in the Standard, Radial and 4.7 rigs would be sailed during the event, spread out over the Hyderabad Sailing Week, this time dubbed the Lake Festival (since the Hobie Nationals already got under way on Thursday), each day having two sessions in the morning and afternoon. Lt. Gen. K.S. Rao (Retd.), Chairman, Events Committee, Yachting Association of India (YAI) recalled how winners celebrated by jumping into the historic lake. Brig. P.S. Nair, Commandant, Artillery Centre and Vice President, National Hobie Class Association, said 18 teams from 10 clubs such as the Indian Naval Watermanship Training Centre (INWTC) at Mumbai and Visakhapatnam, the Army Yachting Node, Mumbai, the Royal Bombay Yacht Club, the Yacht of Pune, the Artillery Water Sports Association, the EMESA, the Vizag Sailing Club and National Sailing School, Bhopal would be in the fray for the 2010 National championships scheduled from July 22 to 25.
