Appealing stuff:Most of the designs are personalised at Dcube, a lifestyle designer store at Jubilee Hills.

Hyderabad: This is not your usual designer store. Once you step into Dcube at Jubilee Hills, you are bound to be surprised with the array of products. Who said designer and lifestyle accessories are expensive? Not here certainly. The store is also home for some quirky designs, useful to spruce up the interiors. A traditional tiffin box actually opens up as a CD rack. And what appears to be a picture of a truck is actually a photo frame and beer glasses don't look sober, they have funny captions on them.

From stationary to home accessories, soft furnishings to books and framed movie posters, you will find something for your home at this design shop located in Jubilee Hills Road. No. 92.

Scene changing

“Most people from Hyderabad go to Bangalore, Delhi or Pune to get designer products for their homes. But the scene is changing and the need for having affordable designer products is now picking up here too. So we wanted to meet the demand for such products here itself,” says Neelima Reddy of Dcube.

Simple things that adorn the shelves such as a wine stack, clocks, bookends, wacky key holders and clocks are just among the innumerable accessories that are available here. Interestingly, a small clothes iron box catches the eye, though it seems like a paper weight, it doubles as an ash-tray.

“We want to cater more to those who are conscious about design. Most of the products here are priced between Rs.20 and Rs.5, 000,” Ms. Reddy says (Ph. no. 99483 48467). The buck doesn't stop here. Dcube has tied up with 17 Degrees North, a design studio to give their clients a full-fledged design experience. Be it furniture or home accessories, the four-member team of both companies do their bit of research before designing for their clients. “Apart from products, we also take up residential design and renovation. Most of the designs are personalised, be they residential or products. We take our clients into perspective and get to know them so that their personality reflects in the design,” says Sayalee Sharangpani of 17 Degrees North.
