Anirudh and Dinesh bat well

CHENNAI: Big half-centuries by Anirudh Kasthuri and K. Dinesh Karthik enabled Vijay CC to post 213 for four on the first day of its match against India Pistons in the TNCA first division league at the CPT-IP ground here on Saturday.

Anirudh (82, 225b, 8x4) and Karthik (91,187b, 9x4, 1x6) combined for 166 runs in 61.4 overs for the third wicket after Vijay found itself in a spot of bother on 10 for two in the sixth over.

A 90-run partnership for the ninth wicket between S. Karthik (62) and Vignesh M. Mohan (40) saved Indian Bank the blushes against Jolly Rovers at IIT-Chemplast, allowing it to post 218 in the first innings after it was tottering on 112 for eight. For Rovers, fast bowler Vignesh Ganapathy claimed six wickets for 48, including five in a post-lunch spell that read 10-4-26-5.

At Murugappa, Parry's off-spinner N. Raghavendran grabbed six for 67 against Falcon, which ended the day on 165 for seven following E. Aswin's 66 (115b, 9x4).

At Viveka, left-arm spinner V. Arun Kumar claimed his 150th wicket for Grand Slam in its match against Globe Trotters. Batting first, Globe Trotters was 213 for five at stumps on the first day, thanks to Y. Gnaneswara Rao's unbeaten 78 (203b, 9x4).

The scores: At MAC: Alwarpet 241 for six in 90 overs (R. Srinivasan 83, P. Sakthi three for 68) vs. Aruna.

At IIT-Chemplast: Indian Bank 218 in 79.2 overs (S. Karthik 62, Vignesh M. Mohan 40, Vignesh Ganapathy six for 48) vs. Jolly Rovers.

At Murugappa: Falcon 165 for seven in 92.2 overs (E. Aswin 66, N. Raghavendran six for 67) vs Parry's.

At CPT-IP: Vijay 213 for four in 90 overs (Anirudh Kasthuri 82, K. Dinesh Karthick 91) vs India Pistons.

At RKM-Viveka: Globe Trotters 213 for five in 90 overs (Y. Gnaneswara Rao 78 batting, S. Sriram 37) vs Grand Slam.

At SRMC: IOB 245 in 84.2 overs (Rohan Prem 52, S. Ramesh 45, C.M. Tejas 44) vs Young Stars Six for no loss in 3 overs .
