NEW DELHI: Hockey India has considered woman player Ranjitha Devi's written complaint alleging sexual harassment by chief coach M.K. Kaushik as “credible evidence” and left the matter to the police to take the case to a “logical conclusion.” At a press conference here on Saturday, Hockey India Secretary General Narinder Batra confirmed that the federation would not be utilising the services of Kaushik in future. The matter was being referred to the Union Sports Ministry for further action, he said. Batra provided an insight into the correspondence involving the concerned player, her supporters in the team, HI and the coach. “The written complaint (by Ranjitha Devi) commands high credibility and we are convinced the matter requires proper investigation. “We want action taken under the act involving sexual harassment. We know the government has limitations to take action but IPC 354 allows the police to take over,” said Batra. HI has sent a copy of the report including written submissions made by the player and the coach to the Police Commissioner.— Special Correspondent
