Bellary
Legal literacy campaign launched in Bellary district BELLARY: Manjula Chellur, Karnataka High Court judge and chairperson of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, has called upon the Bellary District Legal Services Authority to make at least five villages in the district litigation-free. She was speaking after flagging off a mobile van as part of a legal literacy campaign at the District Court complex here on Saturday. The van would travel across the district, to create awareness among the public, especially in rural areas, about legal services available. Ms. Chellur urged advocates to cooperate in the speedy disposal of cases. This would instil confidence in the people about the judiciary, she said. The coordinated efforts of judicial officers, advocates and the public would help Bellary occupy the top position in the State with regard to the speedy disposal of cases and in maintaining law and order, she said. Ms. Chellur was honoured by the members of the Bellary Bar Association on her maiden visit to the city after assuming charge as chairperson of the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority.
