Manipur claims team title

GUWAHATI: Manipur won the team title in the youth National women's boxing championship here.

Manipur bagged three gold medals on its way to garnering 28 points and claiming the championship. Assam (25 points), with two golds, was the runner-up.

Sarjubala Devi of Manipur was declared the best boxer of the meet.

The results (finals): 48kg: Sarjubala Devi (Man) bt Rebecca (Miz) 9-2; 51kg: Sonia (Har) bt Anita Kahar (Asm) 8-5; 54kg: Philao (Asm) bt Lakia Soyiban (Man) 6-1; 57kg: Sony Chanu (Man) bt Priyanka (Pun) 2-0; 60kg: Anjali Mochari (Asm) bt Mukesh Kumari (Har) 7-2; 64kg: Monika Soun (Pun) bt Minu Basumatary (Asm) 3-1; 69kg: Memthoi Devi (Man) bt Heena Tokas (Del) 6-2; 75kg: Princy (Ker) bt Namrata (MP) 2-2 (5-5, 3-2); 81kg: Amandeep (Pun) bt Jagmeet Kaur (Utr) 7-2; +81kg: Nidhi (Har) bt Tanuja Joshi (Utr) RSC-OC (Rd3) .
