Huge haul of gelatine sticks
GUNTUR: The police on Monday seized a huge quantity of gelatine sticks stacked in a house at Konuru village in Atchampet mandal near Sattenapalli.
They took one Narasimha Rao into custody and were questioning him. Koteswara Rao, the house owner was also being questioned.
Sattenapalli DSP J. Bhaskar Rao told The Hindu that the gelatine sticks numbering 1,000 were stacked in five bags. Even though Rao told the police that the sticks were procured for blasting of wells, the police would book cases against him for illegal hoarding of gelatine sticks in a residential area, the DSP said.
This huge haul of gelatine sticks brought back horrifying memories of the devastating blast in November, 2009 when 14 persons were killed in a blast triggered by a domestic gas leak at Narayanpur village in Dachepalli mandal.
