HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Rosaiah has requested the Centre to accord early clearances to the gas-based and coal-based power projects proposed in the State for overcoming shortages in peak months. The Chief Minister, who called on Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in New Delhi, reportedly made a request to expeditiously clear the proposed power project at Ramagundam. He is understood to have informed the Minister that speedy completion of power projects in Telangana would enable the State achieve self-sufficiency without depending on the Central grid and the National Thermal Power Corporation. Mr. Rosaiah requested the Centre to include seven solar-based power projects including Solar Semi-Conductor Pvt Ltd (5 MW), Sri Power Generation India (2 MW), Movva Power Project (5 MW) and Vikrant Energy (2 MW) in the proposed Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission. During his meeting with Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, he requested the Centre to bear the expenditure incurred by the State Government on Arogyasri health insurance scheme while it could also consider providing 60 per cent expenses incurred for successfully running the 104 and 108 services.
