Teachers told to identify students with eye defects

ERODE: School teachers in the district have been asked to take all necessary steps to identify students with eye defects and help them get proper treatment without any delays.

Speakers at the training programme organised for school teachers here, speakers said that eye defects would severely affect the performance of the students. Teachers could play a major role in identifying children with eye defects and enable them get proper treatment.

Joint Director of Health V. Nagarajan, inaugurating the training programme, explained various efforts initiated by the State Government to treat school children with eye defects.

Chief Civil Surgeon Dr. M. Ravikumar trained the school teachers on screening students for eye defects.

Senior officials were present in the training, organised jointly by the District Blindness Control Society and Erode branch of Indian Medical Association.
