Applications invited for national youth awards

KRISHNAGIRI: Applications are invited for the annual National Youth Awards 2009-10 given away by the Union Government for outstanding service in areas of social welfare and national development. The awards were given on January 12 every year, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanada.Collector V. Arun Roy, in a release, said the awards would be given based on the activities of the applicants in the period between April 1 2009 and March 31, 2010.

The award would carry a cash prize of Rs.20,000, a medal and certificate in the individual category (Age between 13 and 35) and Rs.1 lakh, a medallion and certificate in the category of voluntary organisations.

Ten individuals and two voluntary organisations would be honoured in a State.

Applications can be obtained from the office of the District Sports Officer in the city.

Filled-in applications in triplicate should be submitted at the office before July 31, the release adds.
